Engine Repair and Replacement in Georgetown

When an engine is in trouble you need two prices and an honest opinion. We test to find the failure, then show you what repair and replacement would each involve.

Big Engine Decisions Need Real Information

An overheating engine, milky oil, a knock that gets louder or a timing chain rattle on a cold start all lead to the same question: is this engine worth fixing? Answering it starts with finding out exactly what has failed, because a leaking water pump and a cracked cylinder head can both look like coolant loss.

Cylinder sealing gets measured, the coolant circuit is pressurized to find where it escapes, and the engine is opened up only if the outside tests leave a question. Once we know the failure, we price the repair and, where it makes sense, a replacement engine, and we tell you how both compare with what the vehicle is worth.

Long climbs at altitude put real load on engines and cooling systems in this part of the state, so we also look for what caused the failure. Fixing a head gasket without fixing the reason it overheated just sets up the next one.

What Engine Work Can Involve

The scope depends entirely on what the tests find.

  • Compression and leak-down testing

Measures how well each cylinder seals, separating ring and valve problems from head gasket failures.

  • Cooling-system pressure test

Finds external and internal coolant leaks, including failed head gaskets and cracked heads.

  • Oil and coolant leak repair

Valve cover, oil pan, rear main and timing cover gaskets replaced to stop leaks that drip or burn.

  • Head gasket and cylinder head repair

Heads removed, checked for flatness and cracks, machined or replaced, and reinstalled with new gaskets and hardware.

  • Timing components

Worn guides, tensioners and stretched timing parts found during diagnosis repaired as part of the engine job, before they let the engine jump time.

  • Internal engine repair

Bearings, piston rings and valve work when the block is sound and the repair makes financial sense.

  • Engine replacement

A quality replacement engine installed with the parts that should be renewed at the same time, such as mounts and hoses.

  • Root-cause check

Cooling, oiling and air intake inspected so the new or repaired engine is not exposed to the same problem.

How an Engine Job Is Handled

Engine work is planned with you at every stage.

  1. Test before any teardown

Non-invasive tests come first. If a teardown is needed to confirm the failure, we explain why and what it costs before starting.

  2. Two options, side by side

You get the repair price, a replacement price where it applies and our honest view of which one fits the vehicle.

  3. Build, verify, road test

After the approved work, the engine is run in, checked for leaks and driven to confirm it pulls, idles and holds temperature properly.

Why Drivers Trust Us With Engine Decisions

An engine job is a large bill, so the decision behind it should be clear.

  1. Failure confirmed first

We do not price an engine replacement until a test shows the existing engine cannot be sensibly repaired.

  2. Value considered

If the repair costs more than the vehicle is worth to you, we say so plainly.

  3. Cause fixed too

The overheating, oil starvation or intake leak behind the failure is addressed in the same job.
